The Stanley Matthews Volunteer & Internship Programme at Cratos gives local and international volunteers the opportunity to work with young footballers, share their skills, experience Ghanaian culture and contribute to youth development.

Inspired by the football legacy of Sir Stanley Matthews and his connection with Ghana, the programme brings together football, education, life skills and community development.

What You Can Do

As a volunteer or intern, you can support our programmes in ways that match your skills and interests.

You may:

Assist with talent identfication and football coaching
Mentor, safeguard young players, and encourage positive values
Support first aid and player welfare activities
Organise life-skills, education, health and career workshops
Help with tournaments, events and programme activities
Support sports management and administration
Document activities through photography, video and storytelling
Encourage girls and young people to participate in sport
Contribute ideas and skills to the development of the Cratos Academy

You don’t have to be an experienced football coach to apply. What matters most is your commitment, positive attitude and willingness to work with young people.

Football coaching, volunteering and cultural experience

Accommodation

International volunteers can stay with host families in Ghana, giving them the opportunity to experience everyday Ghanaian life and become part of a local household.

Host-family accommodation normally includes breakfast and supper, while volunteers travel to training and programme locations during their placement.

Accommodation arrangements are discussed and confirmed before your arrival.

Programme Duration and Fees

Placements are flexible, ranging from 2 weeks to 6 months, depending on your availability and the needs of the programme.

Volunteers pay a programme fee that contributes towards their accommodation, living arrangements and transportation to training and game centres during their stay.

Optional tours and personal travel within Ghana are not included.
