About the Sir Stanley Matthews Volunteer in Ghana Coaching Programme
The Stanley Matthews Coaching Programme is designed to nurture the next generation of footballers in Ghana by offering professional football training and life-skills development. Guided by Sir Stanley Matthews’ values of perseverance, sportsmanship, and excellence, the programme creates opportunities for youth to achieve their dreams on and off the pitch.
As a volunteer or intern, you will play a crucial role in continuing this legacy by working with aspiring athletes, developing their potential, and promoting community engagement through football.

Roles and Responsibilities
As a volunteer or intern, you may take on roles such as:
- Assisting with coaching sessions and player development.
- Assisting with first aid/paramedics
- Organizing workshops on life skills, health, education and career.
- Supporting programme operations, logistics, and event management.
- Documenting activities and sharing success stories to inspire others.
- Collaborating with local communities to promote youth & girls participation in sport.
Volunteer Accommodation
International volunteers will have the opportunity to live with host families, becoming integrated members of the household. They will enjoy breakfast and supper with their hosts, providing a unique chance to immerse themselves in Ghanaian culture and seamlessly adapt to the local way of life.
Fees
Volunteers are required to pay a fee to cover their living expenses and travel to training and game centres duration of their stay. This does not include optional travel tours within the country.
The Academy Project Support
Volunteers are also encouraged to donate money and equipment to support the Cratos Academy Project, which will directly support the development of children and youth from less privileged homes and communities.
Who Can Apply?
We welcome applications from:
- Football enthusiasts with or without prior coaching experience.
- Students and graduates in sports management, physical education, or related fields.
- Individuals from England or other international locations who wish to volunteer abroad.
- Locals passionate about youth development and community service.
Programme Duration:
Flexible placements ranging from 2 weeks to 6 months.
